St. Luke's Hospital

Parking Deck & South Entrance Lobby Addition | Allentown, PA

St. Luke’s Hospital selected Bracy Contracting as the Design / Build Contractor for their  parking deck / lobby addition project from an extensive list of qualified firms.  They were confident that Bracy would assemble an experienced team of designers and contractors to construct this vital project The existing hospital started as one main hospital building over 70 years ago, and has had several additions.

Because of these additions, the hospital did not have enough parking or a main entrance that would allow easy access to the existing hospital. Bracy and their design team of TRO JB and Timothy Haahs & Associates created a design that not only met the parking needs, but also created a lobby addition that tied all the existing grades, parking structure, and existing hospital floor lines together.  The project was funded in part with a RACP grant.  Bracy received complements from the grant authority for professionally complying with all  requirements of the grant.

Project Highlights:

Created (380) parking spaces without disrupting the ascetics of the residential neighborhood

Created a lobby addition that would tie-in the new parking deck and existing floor lines in a manner that allows easy access to all areas of the hospital.

Developed a foundation design to achieve proper bearing capacity, despite the poor sub soil conditions of fragmented rock, fill, etc. This was accomplished by Bracy’s direction to utilize drilled caissons, embedded 5’ into bed rock at every column location.
